Wendy Cherwinski specializes in communicating through the spoken word. For the past 20 years, she has written speeches and presentations for and provided advice to executives in government, business and the not for profit sector. She also leads workshops and seminars on how to write speeches and presentations and stands on the podium herself as a public speaker.
Wendy draws on a rich communications background as a former journalist and military public affairs officer. She has also managed a speechwriting unit in a major federal government department, so she knows the demands and constraints of speech production from both the writer’s and client’s point of view.
Her international speaking experience includes leading workshops and seminars at a speechwriters conference in Washington, a corporate communications conference in Chicago and at MacWorld in San Francisco.
Wendy produces Pen & Podium, available either by subscription as a monthly e-newsletter or online as a blog at www.echeloncomm.ca. Pen & Podium provides valuable tis, resources and insights into writing and communications, with a special focus on speeches and presentations.
Wendy is active in the communications community as a past president and current member of the Ottawa chapter of IABC (the International Association of Business Communicators), a professional member of CAPS (the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers) and a member of the Washington Speechwriters Roundtable.
She holds a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Carleton University.
